Sprinkler Master Valve Wiring
The master valve is wired to a special master valve circuit on the irrigation controller.
Sprinkler master valve wiring. This short video shows you the basics of wiring valve solenoids and sprinkler timers find our preassembled manifolds here. Irrigation master valves. The common wire is usually white but can be any color as long as it s hooked to the common slot in the sprinkler timer. Most contractors use white or green for the common wire and the other colors for the hot side.
Most sprinkler timers will be similar to this example. Connect the white wire to one of the common terminals. The red white pair of the wires on the isolator connect to the valve field wire. Sometimes this circuit is called a pump start circuit.
Below is a typical drawing and description of a hunter src series timer master pump valve wiring. Cerro s sprinkler system wire is sunlight resistant and suitable cerro s sprinkler system wire is sunlight resistant and suitable for direct burial applications up to 30 volt including field and central controls for underground sprinkler systems. All wire splice connections should be done using waterproof connectors. Route the master valve wire between valve location and hydrawise controller.
Soft bare copper conductors are twisted without filler to a lhl then pvc insulated and jacketed with a parallel ripcord this wire is ready to perform. On spruce gen 2 there is a dedicated master valve labeled m. Route wires from the master valve or pump start relay location into the controller with the valve wires. Sprinkler wire is available with varying numbers of color coded wires inside of a larger plastic sheathing.
One colored wire is needed for each sprinkler valve in the system plus a white common. Connect either wire from the pump relay to the mv terminal. This is most commonly a white colored wire. A master valve is a normally closed valve installed at the supply point of the main line that opens whenever a zone is operating it is normally labeled m mv or pump please note master valves should only be wired to the m and c terminals.
Attach the common wire to either solenoid wire. On many irrigation controllers the master valve is labeled m or mv. Every valve has a solenoid with two wires. Attach a separate control wire to the remaining wire of each master valve solenoid.
Wire isolator isolator field common. A master valve is an automatic valve typically an electric solenoid type valve that is installed at the point where the irrigation system connects to the water supply. Master valve wiring not all systems have a master valve. One common wire and one zone wire.
